The Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) not only prevents the rotation of thigh bone (femur) on the tibia in the knee, but it also prevents its forward translation onto the Femur. The ligament can tear off during sports like football, rugby and tennis, or other activities like dancing and any strenuous exercise.
The torn ligament cannot be stitched but reconstructed surgically by grafting a new tissue on it. This is known as ACL reconstruction surgery.
As the Mexicali bones and joints surgeon explains here, the reconstruction of the torn ligament can be done with hamstrings or patellar tendon.
Following is the video narration.
“ACL, it’s a ligament inside your knee; is an anterior crucial ligament that is subject to rupture in sports activities like soccer, football and hockey, and dancing and basketball and all that. Nowadays when a young patient or an older patient is very active…..you have to reconstruct it. You cannot sew it back together. You have to reconstruct it.
If you are looking for an affordable ACL repair overseas, then before finalising on an expert orthopaedic surgeon in Mexico or India, don’t forget to consider factors like the surgeon’s credentials, surgical experience and the past track record.
